The project

INITIAL SITUATION AND GOALS

  • Mini Cooper 3rd generation as a racing version (small series of 3000 pieces)

  • Handover of the concepts for shell and add-on parts

  • Development and industrialization up to series production

  • Scope: Dom-dome strut, load securing strut, widened wheel arch linings, rear axle reinforcement as well as various new engine and underbody panels

SCOPE OF SERVICES / RESPONSIBILITY PININFARINA

  • Design of the concepts taking into account all geometric, manufacturing and production technology integration requirements

  • Execution of change processes and approvals in the BMW environment

  • Management of implementation at suppliers and integration of the scope on the assembly line

RESULT

  • Delivery of 5 pre-series batches and processing of all quality issues that have arisen

  • Timely handover of the module scope to the Oxford plant after only 2 years of development
