HISTORY
The history of the car is reflected in that of Pininfarina’s lines, in the ability to bring an aesthetic concept to life. From the founder of the company, Pinin, to his son Sergio and, today, with the designers who operate at our Design Centers in Italy, US and China, Pininfarina’s distinctive trait has wound its way through nine decades of history and emotions, to outline the shape of the future.
In what is today called Car Design, those principles of high-end Carrozzeria that have made the Pininfarina aesthetic and design approach unique in its kind, have been handed down from generation to generation. A profession, that of the Carrozziere, which has evolved over the years, along with aesthetic technology, embracing the profession known today as that of Car Designer. The Pininfarina philosophy continues to be perpetuated today, in modern professionalism, with the constant pursuit of innovation and timeless beauty.

Automotive design activities represent the most renowned service offered by the Group to all global vehicle markets. The aesthetic research carried out by the Group designers is steered constantly towards achieving pure, uncluttered shapes, to perpetuate their beauty.
Such features have allowed the Group to build long lasting relationships with global carmakers leaders in the luxury segments. Being the car a global project, we search for a total consistency between every detail of the exterior and interior design, and between the colours, materials, the use of technology and the full analysis of the passengers’ on board experience.
Styling services include research models and prototypes, CAS (Computer Aided Styling), modelling with virtual mathematical models, virtual prototypes, scale models, CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing), 1:1 models, verification models, Master Models.

PROTOTYPING
Pininfarina has all the equipment and human resources necessary to build physical prototypes and to execute the testing plans necessary to check the product being developed.
The Turin-based Centre includes prototype workshops which are capable of managing different development programs simultaneously. A specific area has been created in the prototype workshop for the construction of special cars: show cars that reflect the Client’s styling or other one-off prototypes.
LIMITED SERIES AND ONE-OFF
Pininfarina has always had a natural vocation for custom-built cars, often raised to the status of “cult” objects. It was thanks to its exceptional capacity to interpret the clients’ dreams, creating unique or limited series, that the fame of Carrozzeria Pinin Farina spread rapidly in Italy and abroad throughout the 1930s and 40s.
Today, Pininfarina continues to dedicate resources and talented people to realize unique models for individual clients. The exceptional skills of Pininfarina designers to interpret the clients’ dreams, together with the application of innovative technologies and the historic craftsmanship skills of its technicians, are still creating cars worthy of legend.
Along the journey that bring these extraordinary models to life, a symbiosis grows up between the client and Pininfarina.
